The Art of Listening

I am fortunate to be the top-producing agent for ING Financial Advisors, and I employ nearly 50 people in my own financial planning firm. I share this information with you because I attribute my success in large part to one skill that, along with a few other beacons of guidance in my work and my personal life, has become one of my person "best practices." That skill is silent listening.
What do I mean by "silent listening?" Here's the secret: silence doesn't only mean refraining from speaking. It also means quieting the ongoing dialogue in your own head--the mental noise--so that you can focus on the other person and what they're communicating to you.
